Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 introduces players to combat mechanics effectively. While there are side quests to help you learn combos, your first real combat test is a practice duel with Hans Capon. As your group sets up camp by a pond, they decide to have some fun by sparring, naturally.
In this duel, you’re equipped with fake wooden swords while Hans dons full armor, but you can still emerge victorious. Successfully defeating him grants you a trophy or achievement, but you must resist the urge to surrender.
How to Defeat Hans
The duel with Hans is simple, but winning can be tricky. At this point, you haven’t learned any fancy moves, so your strategy will rely mainly on attacking and blocking.
When facing Hans, wait for him to strike. When he does, a green shield will appear in front of him. Use this moment to block, which will open up an opportunity for you to counterattack. After blocking, hit him once or twice. If Hans guards one side, hit him on the opposite side.
The real challenge lies in the number of hits you’ll exchange. You will block and strike multiple times before you can emerge victorious. It’s essential to stay focused and be patient.
During the match, a surrender option will appear on the right side of your screen. You might think this is the way forward, but it’s not. If possible, ignore it and continue the fight.
How to Unlock the Trophy or Achievement for Defeating Hans
The trophy or achievement you earn is a nod to the first game. It’s titled Deja Vu, and its description reads: “You defeated Capon during practice. Again.”
After you defeat him and the objective is marked as complete, the trophy or achievement will unlock, allowing you to continue your journey. Deja Vu is a bronze trophy on PlayStation and is worth 10 Gamerscore on Xbox.
