Online games like COD: Warzone, Apex Legends, and others really have their charm associated with mouse & keyboard usage. Some modern games do come with mouse & keyboard support on consoles, there are still many others that don’t. GameSir VX2 Aimbox is aimed at offering an easy way to enjoy your game with the input of your choice.
GAMESIR VX2 AIMBOX
This is a USB adapter used to connect a mouse & keyboard, controller, or auxiliary power to a gaming console system. This adapter lets the Mouse & Keyboard key presses be mapped just like that of a controller’s input, letting users play their favourite games with a mouse & keyboard instead.
The adapter has Bluetooth connectivity in order to communicate with its app on an Android or iOS device. The app allows the players to use default profiles for certain games or customize them as per the game’s requirements like the layout, mouse sensitivity, and a host of other options so the keyboard is utilized as intended. Its LED lighting complements the aesthetic of many keyboards and mice used fervently by the gaming community.
It is fairly simple to use the GameSir VX2 AimBox. Just plug the adapter in via the USB port on your gaming console and attach the mouse & keyboard inputs in either of its side ports. Then plug the included USB-C/micro cable into the controller, and that’s it!
All of the controller’s buttons are mapped roughly where you’d find them if you were playing on a PC. Let yourself get the hang of setting before losing your patience, though. Once you have got your bearings right, you will know why this is a seamless way to introduce mouse and key functionality to all the games that you have loved but couldn’t play before
The GameSir VX2 Aimbox effectively mimics the controller input, so the input works smoothly whether you’re in an online shooter game or trying a 2D side-scroller. It really makes such a massive difference to the play experience, depending on the title at hand. While COD: BO Cold War will leave you smitten with the FPS, there are some older games that will make you feel like you are going nowhere.
For the PlayStation 5, a PlayStation 4 adapter is required to be used and only games that support the older adapter will work. The GameSir VX2 AimBox also works well with the Nintendo switch. You can plug the device directly into the mounting bracket USB port, although it also works with the handheld if a USB C adapter is plugged into its base.
Another issue is that this adapter does not support wired headphones, so you either have to use a wireless connection or connect headphones directly to the gaming console. Also, any mouse that comes with a driver installation prior to use is not supported by this adapter.
With these issues at hand, and knowing well that Xbox and PS console do allow direct mouse and keyboard connections, one is left wondering if investing $50 in this device is even worth it or not. It seems that the GameSir VX2 AimBox might be a not-so-useful piece of technology.
However, the main benefit of using this device is that it grants unparalleled customization of the mouse sensitivity and smoothness, along with the keyboard and mouse keymapping. All of these settings can be saved to profiles for each game separately.
The GameSir VX2 AimBox is a pretty costly way for console gamers to experience the joys of gaming using a keyboard and mouse. There are obviously concerns, too, about how this can be exploited when it comes to competitive gaming.
But if you don’t own a PC yet still want to try your favourite titles and see how they would feel on a PC, this adapter lets you play those exclusive games with a mouse and keyboard, which is a pretty cool experience!!
