If you’ve recently upgraded your HP printer to the Inspire 7900 series and are struggling with older scanning software, you’re not alone. Many users find that their trusted HP Scan Extended software doesn’t work properly with new printers, especially since the software is quite old and not designed for modern operating systems or newer hardware.
The best solution to this problem is to uninstall the outdated Scan Extended program and then install the full driver software for your new printer. Here’s a straightforward step-by-step guide to help you get your scanning capabilities back up and running:
First, check your computer for any existing printer software. You want to remove any old or conflicting software before installing new drivers. To do this, go to your computer’s “Programs and Features” section in the Control Panel, find any HP printer software or related tools, and uninstall them. After doing that, restart your computer to clear out any residual settings.
Next, visit the official HP website to download the full driver software for your printer. For the Inspire 7900 series, you can find the driver package here: HP Inspire 7900e Series Drivers. Be sure to select the correct operating system, such as Windows 11.
Before installing the new software, it’s a good idea to check for Windows updates. Launch Windows Update and install any available updates. Once done, restart your computer.
If your printer is connected via USB, disconnect the cable before proceeding with the software installation. After your system restarts, run the downloaded driver package. Follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, connect the printer to your computer with the USB cable near the end of the installation. Once the setup completes, restart your computer again.
For added convenience, or if you prefer a simpler process, you can also use HP’s Web Pack Installation method. Just open the web page HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software, download and save the setup file, and follow the instructions. Connect the printer with the USB cable when prompted, and finish the setup.
Once you complete these steps, your new printer should function correctly with updated scanning capabilities and reliable software support. If you run into issues during the process, double-check that all previous versions of driver software are fully uninstalled and that you’re installing the correct software for your device model and operating system.
By following this approach, you can replace outdated software and ensure your new HP printer works smoothly with all its features.
