“Everything Is Crab” offers several unique build strategies, such as a physical build focused on high health points that uses Body Slam to cause damage, or a high-mobility poison build with increased dodge stats. Success with these builds often depends on luck—getting the right evolutions in the correct order and on higher difficulty levels. The top build is really about choosing the best available evolutions.
There are a few goal-oriented builds I’ve found success with, especially beyond pressure 15.
Ability Poison Build
This is my favorite to play, though it can be tricky due to the need for multiple components. The core evolutions are Leech, Beak, and Saliva. Picking up Saliva allows you to obtain Poisonous Saliva, which causes your Leech and Beak attacks to inflict poison damage over time. My successful pressure 15 build looked like this:
- Leech
- Beak
- Saliva evolving into Poisonous Saliva
- Tail
- Tail Wag
- Plating
- Scales (with the Basking branch)
- Virulent (boosts poison damage)
- Alpha boss branch (for increased social abilities)
I also included other evolutions like Legs branching into Scuttle for speed and Cortex for a little ability power, along with social evolutions such as antennae to charm more creatures.
I experimented with Slow Metabolism in this build, aiming to gain levels simply by existing. Basking boosts level gain in desert areas during the day, and Slow Metabolism makes leveling cheaper, allowing faster progression.
Most successful builds involve charming creatures, with Tail Wag being particularly useful once unlocked. Tail Wag has a chance to charm nearby creatures periodically, and higher evolution levels increase this likelihood. Charmed creatures can absorb boss damage and provide various buffs, such as reduced evolution costs and extra ability damage.
Note: It’s best to avoid pursuing a fully social-focused build too early, as you’ll lack damage output and survivability. It’s better after facing at least the second boss. However, grabbing a tail early can be beneficial for the +2 social boost available in mud pools, but only if you already have a tail.
Body Slam Build
This build has been the most successful for me so far. It centers on building high HP and hitting enemies hard with Body Slam. Achieving this relies on being offered the right evolutions—if the attack isn’t available early, forcing a Body Slam build isn’t practical. Once available, focus on increasing HP through evolutions like More Mass, Subcutaneous Fat, Hump, and Robust.
A typical build might include:
- Body Slam level 23
- A second physical attack, such as Horns, or any other physical attack
- Wings or Legs for movement and terrain adaptation (from the boss branch)
- Alpha evolution from the boss branch
- HP-enhancing evolutions (as listed above)
It’s important to incorporate good defense evolutions like Plating, which adds a shield against damage. Remember, larger creatures are easier targets, so extra defenses help balance that out.
High Dodge and Mobility Build
I enjoyed a build emphasizing movement speed and dodge chance. If you can dodge attacks consistently or stay small enough to avoid damage, higher difficulty runs become more manageable. The standout evolution in this category is Agile, which increases dodge chance and reduces attack movement penalties—that is, how much your speed slows when attacking. This allows you to avoid attacks effectively, especially against bosses like Shellephant.
A full dodge-focused build could include:
- Elusive (for increased dodge chance)
- More Eyes
- Detachable Tail
- Wings (also pairing with Legs later for boost speed)
- Smol
This approach emphasizes playing as a small, agile creature, which naturally grants high prey affinity—great for gaining extra level progress from boss branches like Ruminant.
Additional Tips: Cheek Pouches are highly recommended for quick movement and food collection, especially when combined with Pioneer (genetic enhancement for extra interest points on the map). This setup allows for collecting bonus stats efficiently while staying mobile.
