There are whispers that Sony has assigned one of its PlayStation Studios to bring two well-known PS3 action-adventure titles to the PS5. While the original inFamous games were created by Sucker Punch Productions, it’s believed that this studio isn’t involved in the new project.
According to Video Games Chronicles’ Jordan Middler, who shared insights on a recent podcast, there’s a belief that a new inFamous game is in the works at PlayStation, but not with Sucker Punch. When pressed for details by Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games, Middler mentioned that a source once indicated Sony is considering remaking the first two inFamous titles, hinting at an inFamous revival.
Middler also cautioned that circumstances might have changed, especially considering Sony’s recent studio layoffs and project cancellations, including the closure of Bluepoint Games. Still, fans remain hopeful. Currently, only PS4’s Second Son is available on the PS5, making the potential remakes of inFamous 1 and 2 a logical step if these rumors prove true.
While Middler’s reputation lends some credibility to the rumor, it’s important to approach it with caution, as it hasn’t been officially confirmed. Middler himself has noted that these reports are speculative until further proof emerges.
