Where to Find Gunpowder
When starting out, you won’t have the ingredients needed to craft gunpowder. Luckily, some supplies can be found at pirate camps. You’ll need to explore the islands fully to locate points of interest.
If you come across a Blackbeard Pirate Camp, be sure to clear it out and check every chest. Gunpowder is most often found here, especially in supply drops. Open these crates to pick up small amounts of gunpowder and start building your stockpile.
How to Make Gunpowder
Before crafting gunpowder, you need a millstone at your camp. With the millstone, you can combine sulfur and ash to produce homemade gunpowder.
Tip: You’ll need 10 sulfur and 20 ash to make 10 units of gunpowder. Make sure to gather enough materials so you can produce larger amounts later.
You won’t find sulfur and ash easily until you clear the Coastal Jungle region and reach the Foothills. To get sulfur, you’ll need an iron pickaxe—iron is only available in the Foothills. Ash can be gathered from a charcoal kiln, so collecting it isn’t difficult.
