One of the most common puzzles involves the Ancient Ruins, which appear throughout every part of the game. The Grey Forest is one such location, and it can be tricky if you don’t know what to look for or if you don’t carefully examine the area. Here’s how to solve the Grey Forest Ancient Ruins puzzle and what rewards you for your effort.
Location of The Grey Forest Ancient Ruins
To find this puzzle, head southeast to the Delesyia region. The ruins are north of the “Grey Forest” label on your map, near a triple crossroads. You’ll spot a large forest clearing with a massive sundial-like structure on the ground, surrounded by statues.
Solving The Grey Forest Puzzle
When you arrive at the puzzle site, you’ll see a memory image of someone moving the large arrow-shaped dial on the ground. A yellow laser beam will shoot out and hit a statue nearby. The clock face on the ground displays various symbols instead of numbers, each relating to a specific statue or what the statue holds. The part of each statue that is gold indicates its connection to a symbol.
Before starting, walk around the edge of the clock face and use your powers to lift and clear away any pillars hiding the symbols.
Begin your puzzle by following the laser to the statue it hits. For example, if it strikes a figure holding a golden Vase, you need to turn the dial so the large lower square is over the Vase symbol. You do this by stabbing the podium with your sword and rotating the dial right or left.
Once the dial is over the correct symbol, release your sword. This will cause the symbols to glow and a new set of symbols to appear along with three lasers shooting out to hit three different statues. The symbols will shuffle around. Your goal is to align both the bottom square and the two medium-sized ones above it so they cover the correct symbols simultaneously.
Next, follow the laser to identify which objects each laser hits and adjust the dial accordingly. For example, if the laser hits a statue holding a golden Vase, move the dial so the Vase symbol is under the main square. Use your sword stabbed into the podium to rotate the dial until the symbols align with the lasers’ targets.
For the specific puzzle at Grey Forest, your symbols include two Harps, two Scales, one Vase, and one Horse. These symbols are located to the left of the dial after the second step. Adjust the dial so the three open squares cover these symbols correctly. The aligned view can be checked against a reference image, where the symbols are positioned properly when the squares are over the Harp, Scale, Vase, and Horse.
Once aligned, the symbols will glow again, and a small door at the base of the central statue will open, revealing an Artifact podium. Approach and interact with it to collect your reward and conclude the puzzle.
