In Saros, you can gather resources like Lucenite and Halcyon to upgrade your gear, unlocking special perks for Arjun or making him stronger overall. Besides these upgrades, you’ll also come across essential equipment such as the Grapple, which helps with movement and navigation.
Another crucial item is the one that grants access to the parry system. Once you obtain it, you’ll be able to deflect certain projectiles with just a single button press—if you react quickly enough. Here’s how to unlock the parry ability in Saros and how to effectively utilize it.
How to Unlock the Parry
While exploring the Blighted Marsh—the fourth biome—you’ll encounter an area where Arjun meets an old acquaintance, Alab. Alab mentions he has something for you but needs you to activate a nearby device to build a bridge.
To do this, follow the only available path on the lower ground until you find a climbable tower. Defeat all the enemies blocking your way and then ascend the tower. At the top, you’ll find an interactable device and a portal to use.
After activating the device and using the portal, you’ll return to the small camp where you first met Alab. Interact with him again and then with the bridge device beside him. This will earn you the parry upgrade.
How to Use the Parry
Once you have the parry upgrade, it changes how you handle incoming projectiles, especially the red Nova Projectiles. Previously, dodging or shielding was your only options—dodging would still cause damage if not timed right, and shields could break if used prematurely. With parry, you can now deflect these projectiles instead.
When a red projectile approaches, press R1 just before it hits you, almost as if you’re about to punch it. If timed correctly, you’ll repel the projectile rather than taking damage. The timing can be strict, so it’s helpful to practice—start with targetting turrets that fire quickly and a few projectiles at a time, then move on to slower enemies that send out multiple shots.
You can adjust how the parry mechanic and overall game difficulty work by changing Carcosan Modifiers. For more details, check out the available guides.
As you become more comfortable with the parry system, you’ll have different responses ready for each projectile type: shield for blue projectiles, dash for yellow ones, and parry for red Nova projectiles. Practicing these reactions will help you handle combat situations more effectively.
