Crimson Desert has received a new update, adding fresh content for players to explore. The main feature is the ability to replay nearly all the boss fights in the game. Additionally, two legendary animals have been introduced that players can tame and make into pets.
The more difficult of the two to acquire is the Iron Eagle. Unlike the Phoenix, it isn’t linked to any specific quest or legendary animal hunt. If you want to add this amazing mechanical bird to your collection, here’s how to do it.
How to Get the Iron Eagle Pet
Gather Mercury
The first step is to find Mercury, the only food the Iron Eagle will accept to trust you. There are a few locations where Mercury can be collected. One spot is just north of the Silver Wolf Mountains in Pailune, slightly above the “W” in “Wolf” on your map. Another good area is north of Hexe Sanctuary in Demeniss, east of Deadfire Mountain.
When you arrive at the Mercury deposit, look for a pool of silver liquid that damages you if you stand in it. To harvest Mercury, equip your bow and charge a Frost-element shot. This will freeze a chunk of Mercury, causing it to shatter and release pieces of Mercury that you can pick up. You’ll need at least 20 pieces of Mercury to fully raise the Iron Eagle’s trust to 100%. Since the bond with this robot takes longer to build than with other animals, multiple trips may be necessary if you don’t have enough Mercury.
Where and How to Summon the Iron Eagle
Once you have enough Mercury, travel to the far east region of Deleysia. Specifically, go to the Hawkstone Ruins, located just above the “A” in “Deleysia” on your map. There, you’ll find a large sculpture made of gears and mechanical parts, with a giant metal bird on top. On the side of the sculpture, there’s an interaction spot, but you can only interact with it at 4:45 A.M. in-game time. You’ll need to wait until the game clock hits around 4:45 A.M. before you can activate the statue and summon the Iron Eagle.
Once the timer hits the right moment, a short cutscene will show the Iron Eagle arriving. After gaining control again, place the Sotdae of Bond near the statue. Fill it with the Mercury you collected, and wait for the Iron Eagle to land. The eagle can be tricky to get to land, so make sure the Sotdae is in its flight path or it might ignore it.
If you have enough Mercury, the Iron Eagle will feast until either the food runs out or its trust meter reaches 100%. Remember, you only get the Sotdae of Bond by completing the Trembling Woods questline in Pororin Forest.
Claiming the Iron Eagle as a Pet
When the trust meter is full, select “Take In” to claim the Iron Eagle as your pet. You can then rename it or equip it through your inventory under the “Pets” tab. Like other pets, the Iron Eagle doesn’t provide combat benefits or stats for your character, but it can gather materials from the environment or fallen enemies.
