Google is planning to introduce content and title-related exclusions at the account level within Google Ads AI Max later this year. This update will enable advertisers to consistently block any content they wish to exclude from their ads across the entire account. Ginny Marvin, the Google Ads Liaison, shared this information in a LinkedIn post.
This development responds to a query from Gabriele Benedetti, who asked if Google plans to roll out the ability to choose landing categories, content, titles, and URLs for search campaigns similar to the options available in Dynamic Search Ads (DSA). Marvin responded that AI Max supports various URL rule types, such as URLs, custom labels in page feeds, and URL combination rules, which are similar to DSA functionalities. URL exclusions are set at the campaign level, while URL inclusions are managed at the ad group level, and page feeds with multiple custom labels are supported as well. More detailed information can be found in the support documentation.
However, Marvin noted that AI Max doesn’t support all DSA rules, such as “page contains.” For existing DSA ad groups, tools will transfer all current URL settings during migration. Any rules or targets not supported in AI Max will be imported as read-only, meaning they will continue functioning but cannot be edited. Additional details are available through Google’s support resources.
Furthermore, Google aims to bring content and title exclusions to the account level later this year to complement the current inventory-aware serving, which automatically excludes out-of-stock items. This feature will give advertisers the ability to exclude specific content they do not want to show in their ads across their accounts.
Based on the current timeline, this feature is expected to be available within the next six months.
