The patent shows that a new type of connector can be compared with the Magsafe from older MacBooks and the iPad smart connector reported by patently Apple. To recharge the iPhone, this connector may take the lightning port based on the illustrations.

The patent indicated that the new connector is made to make the iPhone water-resistant. It’s completely built with magnets. This disclosed that the company has been planning to replace the charging port from the iPhone possibly. Still, it also looks like Apple will making another connector for its devices.

For iPhone, MagSafe was introduced by Apple last year. Magsafe is a brand new magnetic connector based on the Qi standard, which can stick to the phone’s back to recharge it.

According to rumors in the upcoming new future models, this connector will no longer be available. At the same time, the iPhone 12 has a lighting port. So the only alternative left for charging the iPhone is the Magsafe.

Another year on the models of iPhone 13, the lightning port will be kept simultaneously, as stated by the reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. But it doesn’t mean completely that someday Apple will be releasing a portless iPhone.
