The year 2025 might be the turning point for ultra-slim smartphones. Samsung has previewed the Galaxy S25 Edge, which could hit the shelves as early as April. Meanwhile, Apple enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the upcoming launch of the iPhone 17 Air later this year.
However, it’s expected that a lesser-known brand might get ahead of both giants with an exciting announcement.
Tecno has recently unveiled the Spark Slim, an impressive device that boasts a thickness of just 5.75mm. Remarkably, this phone isn’t just about its sleek design; it packs some solid hardware that places it squarely in the upper mid-range category.
Before diving deeper, it’s important to note that Tecno describes the Spark Slim as a concept model. Essentially, this means it serves as an innovation showcase for the time being, implying there’s a considerable chance it may never reach the market as a commercially available product.
What’s inside this sleek machine?

The Spark Slim will come with a dual camera setup featuring two 50-megapixel sensors on the rear. For selfies and video calls, it includes a 13-megapixel front camera, elegantly positioned in a punch-hole cutout on a 6.78-inch curved OLED display.
This screen is quite impressive, offering a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate—among the finest currently available in the industry. Tecno also claims a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, which is approximately double that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Underneath it all, the phone is powered by an undisclosed octa-core processor, and while Tecno hasn’t revealed specifics about the RAM or storage options, the battery capacity is quite remarkable.

Tecno reveals that the Spark Slim will feature a 5,200 mAh battery, an astonishing figure for such a slim device. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which measures 8.6mm in thickness, has a smaller 5,000 mAh battery.
The charging capabilities are equally impressive, boasting a peak wired charging output of 45W, outpacing Apple’s offerings and matching the latest high-end models from Samsung.
Further information regarding the phone will be disclosed at MWC, commencing next week. Digital Trends will be on-site, and we anticipate the opportunity for a hands-on experience with the device, provided Tecno has viable prototypes to showcase. Stay tuned for updates.
