Samsung has disclosed the official launch date for its eagerly anticipated ultra-slim smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge. After months of teasing and showcasing the device at numerous events, fans will finally get to experience this iPhone 17 Air rival up close. The global announcement is set for May 13, a date previously hinted at through leaks.
As noted in a newsroom update, Samsung will host the launch event virtually at 9 a.m. KST on May 13. In terms of time zones, that translates to 1 a.m. in London, 8 p.m. on May 12 in New York, and 5 p.m. in California. This single online event will replace multiple regional launches.
The design of the phone has been teased several times, with both official images and leaks hinting at its aesthetic. Samsung also states the Galaxy S25 Edge will feature “pro-grade capabilities to intuitively capture the world around you.” This includes a remarkable 200MP main camera, placing it on par with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which has the same pixel count. While Samsung promises a “smart lens” that helps identify important scenes for memory capture, it remains to be seen if this will utilize existing visual intelligence solutions from companies like Google, or if it will be a proprietary technology. More details will be unveiled during next week’s launch.

In addition to these insights, leaked specifications for the Galaxy S25 Edge suggest it will be powered by an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite chipset, equipped with a battery capacity of around 3,900mAh, and feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. The device may also incorporate ceramics and titanium in its build. Reports indicate it will be available in three colors, alongside a 50MP secondary ultrawide camera, albeit lacking a telephoto option, with a starting price around $1,300.
With this pricing strategy, the Galaxy S25 Edge could surpass the Ultra model. However, despite its sleek appearance, it may not hold the title of the slimmest Samsung phone launching in 2025, as that accolade is likely to go to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7.
