Anticipation is building for two flagship smartphones set to launch by the year’s end: Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple’s iPhone 17 Air. Recently unveiled images of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is expected to debut this month, showcase its striking similarity to the rumored design of the iPhone 17 Air, slated for release in September.

Samsung has teased the Galaxy S25 Edge, which will be unveiled on May 13. Upon its release, it is projected to be among the slimmest smartphones available, measuring approximately 5.85 millimeters in thickness.

Images provided by WinFuture confirm that this new model is indeed sleek, featuring a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 3120 x 1440 pixel resolution and a variable refresh rate of 120Hz.

On the rear, the device is likely to sport a vertically oriented dual-camera setup, comprising a 200MP main sensor for superior photography and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, a 12MP camera is expected on the front.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Edge will likely be driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, providing robust performance and smooth multitasking capabilities. It’s anticipated to offer 12GB of RAM, with storage options of 256GB and 512GB.

Now, let’s shift our focus to the iPhone 17 Air.

If circulating rumors are accurate, this model will be around 5.5mm thick and will feature a 6.6-inch LTPO display, powered by the forthcoming Apple A19 chipset. Unlike its counterpart, it will likely have a single rear camera with a horizontal placement reminiscent of the Google Pixel 9.

From a side perspective, the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Edge display remarkable similarities:

While the designs differ, the similarities in overall specifications are notable, particularly for ultra-thin smartphones where differentiation can be subtle.

Upon its introduction, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be the fourth addition to the Galaxy S25 lineup, which also includes the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
