SenseTime Unveils Major Advancements in AI Computing Power
At the 2024 REAL Technology Conference, SenseTime’s General Manager of Digital Entertainment, Luan Qing, announced significant developments in the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. SenseTime has established a domestically-produced AI computing cluster that currently houses 54,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) with a peak computational power reaching an impressive 20,000 petaflops.
Luan highlighted that the firm is constructing the largest AI data center in China, located in the Lin-gang area of Shanghai. Additionally, SenseTime has distributed AI computing nodes across several major cities, including Guangzhou, Chongqing, Shenzhen, and Fuzhou.
According to a previous report from IT Home, SenseTime’s half-year financial report for 2024, ending June 30, revealed that the company’s total revenue for the first half of the year reached 1.7397 billion yuan, marking a 21.4% year-on-year increase. Notably, revenue from generative AI surged to 1.0512 billion yuan, a staggering growth of 255.7%, making up 60.4% of the company’s overall income.
Luan also forecast that 2024 would be a pivotal year for the application of AI in video production. Over the next three to five years, advancements in model capabilities and reductions in inference costs are expected to unlock a wider range of application scenarios.
Furthermore, AI-generated video is poised to transform traditional video production processes by integrating audio and visual creation methods into a cohesive workflow, ultimately lowering the barriers to producing quality AI video content. This innovation is expected to introduce entirely new interactive video experiences to audiences.
As SenseTime continues to push the boundaries of AI technology, the company is well-positioned to lead the charge in the evolving landscape of digital content creation.
