OnePlus 13 Confirmed To Receive Various Camera Upgrades

As OnePlus prepares for the unveiling of its upcoming flagship smartphone later this month, the company continues to release tantalizing details. The latest update reveals insights into the camera setup of the OnePlus 13. The enhancements appear to include both minor upgrades and a slight decrease in specifications.

The main camera will utilize Sony’s LYT-808 sensor, maintaining the same 50MP, 1/1.4-inch format that was featured in the OnePlus 12. Importantly, this model will enable 4K Dolby Vision recording across all its cameras, as opposed to being restricted to just the primary camera.

There’s an unexpected downgrade when it comes to zoom capabilities. The OnePlus 12 was equipped with a 64MP telephoto lens that offered 3x optical zoom, while the OnePlus 13 will be presented with a 50MP sensor that matches the optical zoom range. However, this new telephoto module boasts a slightly larger sensor and keeps the same aperture specs.

OnePlus has confirmed that this updated periscope zoom module incorporates a new “multiple prism reflection structure,” which should enhance image quality by improving photosensitivity for better light collection.

The ultrawide camera is also receiving an upgrade, moving to a 50MP sensor for broader captures, compared to the 48MP camera on its predecessor.

Hasselblad mode enhancements will remain, and it appears there will be additional features to aid in capturing striking photographs and videos. Notably, the OnePlus 13 will showcase a flat 2K OLED display, aligning with its overall sleek design aesthetic.

Powering the device will be Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chipset, promising an impressive gaming experience with a maximum of 120 frames per second. On the software front, Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 is currently undergoing beta testing.

The OnePlus 13 will be available in three distinct colors: white, black, and a navy blue option featuring a leather finish. Pre-orders have already started in China, and the device is set to officially launch on October 31 in its home market.
