Meta Platforms is preparing to test a new AI-powered pendant next year, according to a recent memo obtained by The Information. The company is also planning a major expansion of its AI eyewear lineup and aims to introduce a business-oriented service called “Wearables for Work.” These strategies are part of Meta’s effort to revitalize its hardware division, Reality Labs, which reported a $4.03 billion loss in the first quarter on $402 million in revenue.
The company targets selling 10 million wearable devices in the latter half of 2026, boosted by new product launches and broader international distribution, reports The Information. Currently, Meta collaborates with EssilorLuxottica to produce AI-enabled smart glasses under the Ray-Ban and Oakley brands.
Last year, Meta acquired Limitless, an AI wearables startup known for developing a pendant that can record and transcribe conversations in real time. This move underscores Meta’s push to develop next-generation AI wearable technology.
