Sharing photos and files between devices can be straightforward within the same ecosystem. However, transferring data between different platforms—like a Windows PC and a MacBook, or an Android device and an iPhone—often presents more challenges.
The Pairdrop web application simplifies this process by facilitating effortless data sharing across various devices connected to the same local network. Simply open the Pairdrop website on both devices. The app will automatically detect other devices running Pairdrop on the same network, displaying them within the user interface.
Each device is assigned a temporary name, which you can customize. To send files, select the target device from the list on the source device, then choose the files you want to transfer. Confirm the transfer by tapping or clicking “Accept” on the receiving device. The transfer completes instantly.

For sharing files over the internet rather than a local network, click the icon resembling three people (“Join public room temporarily”) in the top right corner. Then, pair the devices by entering the security code provided. Individual files are sent directly; when multiple files are selected, they are bundled into a ZIP archive for transfer.
Pairdrop also supports messaging between devices. To send a message, press and hold the recipient’s icon, then type your message. This feature is useful for securely transmitting serial numbers, contact details, or other critical information. Pairdrop provides options for both temporary and permanent device pairing to ensure secure data exchanges.
