Bungie has been at the forefront of the live-service genre on consoles with the success of Destiny for over ten years. This ongoing commitment to first-person shooters makes the announcement of their new game, Marathon, particularly thrilling as it marks a return to one of their earliest intellectual properties. This title features an extraction shooter format, complete with distinctive Runner classes, immersive dynamic environments, high-quality gunplay, and loads to explore. With the release scheduled for September, the wait is short, but for some players, even that seems like an eternity. Fortunately, Bungie is offering an opportunity for players to get an early experience through a closed alpha test. If you’re eager to get a jump on the competition, here’s how to become part of the Marathon closed alpha.
How to Participate in the Closed Alpha
Bungie is organizing a closed alpha that will take place from April 23 to May 4, but participation is limited to selected individuals only. Unlike open tests that welcome everyone, joining this one requires a few steps to qualify for a chance to experience Marathon ahead of others.
First, this alpha is only available to players aged 18 and over located in North America, and you must have access to a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC with a Bungie.net account.
Step 1: Begin by joining the official Marathon Discord server and navigate to the “alpha_access” channel.
Step 2: Once you’re in, type “/alpha” to receive prompts from a bot, guiding you through questions necessary for obtaining a registration link.
Step 3: Click on the link provided and log in using your Bungie.Net account.
Step 4: Choose your gaming platform, agree to the non-disclosure agreement, and provide consent to receive emails regarding the alpha. A few additional questions will follow, and you’ll be advised to monitor your email for further instructions.
Bungie plans to send out emails starting the week of April 18 and continuing throughout the testing period, so there remains a possibility of being selected even if you don’t get chosen immediately.
Unfortunately, progress made during the alpha will not transfer to the full game, ensuring that all players start on an equal footing when the game officially launches.
