When you increase the disk size of a WorkSpace, it usually takes about an hour to complete. But if your WorkSpace has been stuck in the “Modifying user volume” step for a couple of hours, it’s longer than what should normally happen.
While the disk size is increasing, most tasks can still be done on the WorkSpace. However, you won’t be able to change the compute type, switch between running modes, restart the WorkSpace, or rebuild it. To apply the new disk size, the WorkSpace needs to be restarted after the process is complete.
Before you start resizing, make sure the WorkSpaces are in an AVAILABLE state, not STOPPED. If they are STOPPED, you won’t be able to start them during the size increase, which can cause problems.
If your WorkSpace has been stuck in this state for longer than expected, it’s a good idea to contact AWS Support. They can help resolve the issue since it might be due to an error during the modification process.
