A new update for Crimson Desert has been released, adding fresh content for players to explore. Now, Kliff can use different ranged weapons, like muskets, and players can create a pond at their camp in Howling Hills for fishing.
One of the coolest new features is finding and taming a baby wyvern to keep as a pet. Pearl Abyss has also announced that eventually, players will be able to ride their wyverns, making it a valuable find. Here’s how to locate a baby wyvern egg, hatch it, and get a pet wyvern.
Baby Wyvern Egg Location
To find the baby wyvern egg, head southeast to the Deleysia region. In the southwest part of this area, go to the Three Brothers’ Cliff Wyvern Nest. If you haven’t cleared this spot of the Wyvernflame faction yet, you’ll need to defeat them first. This can be tough if your level is low, as their enemies are strong and mainly use muskets, which can be annoying.
You’ll also face Balthazar, the Wyvernflame boss leading the faction. You can’t kill him now because he’s tied to a quest and will run away after losing about a quarter of his health. Despite that, don’t ignore him, as he relies heavily on powerful ranged attacks that can be hard to dodge with melee weapons.
Once all the Wyvernflame enemies are defeated, jump down into the central gorge where many wyvern nests are located. Climb up the stairs to the second level and follow the rocky wall until you find a Bismuth Ore wall you can break open using a Focused Force Palm, as shown above.
Breaking the wall reveals a chest with some armor and the wyvern egg on the right side. Grab the egg and leave the small cave.
How to Hatch a Baby Wyvern Egg
Unlike the Kuku Bird, you don’t have to travel far to hatch this egg. After leaving the cave, turn right and then left at the top of the stairs, as shown above. You’ll see a wyvern nest with a spot in the center for the egg. Place the egg down and wait about an hour in-game.
If you leave the area before the egg hatches, you’ll lose your progress and will need to start over. After an hour passes in-game, the egg will glow orange and prompt you with a “Hatch” option when you stand next to it. Select this to free your new pet wyvern, which will appear instantly in your pet menu.
The wyvern won’t give any combat or exploration benefits like other pets. It will simply hang around, look cute, and gather materials from corpses or ores you break apart. Keep in mind, future updates are expected to let wyverns grow and eventually be used as mounts, similar to the Kuku Bird or raptor.
