In Starsand Island, you’ll spend your time revisiting your childhood neighborhood, but now all your friends have grown up. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, though finding everything you need can be tricky if you’re not sure where to look.
One important resource is honeycomb, which is used to make beehives and produce honey. It’s a bit like the classic question of what came first—the chicken or the egg. Rest assured, honeycomb is available on the island, and we’ll tell you exactly where to find it so you can get started.
### Where to Find Honeycomb
Honeycomb is needed to build beehives, but honeycomb itself comes from beehives. To find honeycomb early, you’ll need to do some exploring. Some trees will randomly have beehives in them. You’ll have to chop down these trees to access the honeycomb inside.
Since you need six honeycomb pieces to craft a single beehive, patience and a little luck are key. The best spots to look are in the northern parts of the map, between Zephyria and Youfang’s homes. When you come across a tree with a beehive, cut down the tree and pick up the hive to collect honeycomb and a few bees.
If you’re having trouble spotting beehives among the leaves, try getting closer so the foliage fades away and you can see the branches clearly.
### How to Catch Bees
Bees can be found around flowers near Zephyria’s house in the northwest part of the island. They don’t fly very fast, but you should walk slowly toward them so they don’t fly away before you can swing your net and catch one.
#### Where to Find Queen Bees
When you’re ready to set up a hive on your farm, you have the option to add a queen bee. These bees are different from the standard ones and can be found in trees between Zephyria’s house and Pastelle’s Ranch.
Adding a queen bee to your hive is optional, but if you feed her Royal Jelly, you can attract even more bees and increase your honey production.
### How to Make Beehives
You can craft a beehive once your Ranching skill reaches the Intermediate level. To do that, purchase the blueprint at Pastelle’s shop. The materials needed are six honeycomb pieces, three iron sheets, and six hardwood planks.
Place your beehive on your property and interact with it. It has 13 slots where you can add bees. The hive can hold up to 800 honey and 20 royal jelly at once. Bees will be active and pollinating flowers to produce honey between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. When they’re not active, you’ll see the bees huddled inside the hive.
### How to Get Honey
Once your bees have done their work, you can collect honey the same way you gather materials from other animal enclosures. Honey is a valuable resource you can use in cooking or sell for extra money.
