One of the exciting features introduced in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the capability to alter the appearance of your gear without affecting its performance—commonly referred to as transmogrification. This feature caters to players who want to effortlessly blend strength and style as they navigate the game’s challenges.
However, this feature isn’t available from the get-go. To make use of transmog, you must first unlock it. Below is a guide that explains how to do just that and how to access the feature in-game.
Unlocking Transmog in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
In the game, this feature is referred to as visual customization. You’ll gain access to it once you hit level eight.
Some players have expressed varying experiences regarding when they unlocked it, but Ubisoft maintains that level eight is the requirement.
Accessing Visual Customization in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
After unlocking visual customization, you can find it in your inventory menu. Just hover over any item and click the icon resembling an eye. This action will take you to the visual customization interface, where you can adjust the appearance of your gear.
Keep in mind that you won’t have access to all appearance options right away; you can only change an item to resemble one you’ve already found. For instance, if you have the Pilos Helmet, you can dress any helmet in that style. Any unavailable options will appear grayed out.
Here’s what you can change the appearance of:
- Swords
- Daggers
- Heavy Blunt Weapons
- Heavy Bladed Weapons
- Staves
- Spears
- Bows
- Headgear
- Armored Arms
- Chest Armor
- Skirts
- Pants
Remember, you can only change an item’s look to another item within the same category—meaning you can’t make a sword look like a mace.
