As a player of Two Point Campus, you’re likely familiar with the challenge of keeping your finances in check while managing your in-game university. Sometimes, it can be refreshing to take a step back and focus on crafting the perfect experience for your students at your institution.
That’s where Sandbox Mode comes into play. This feature provides you with ample funds, so you won’t have to worry about money running out in specific gameplay styles. However, if you’re feeling confident in your skills and want to create a more challenging environment, Sandbox Mode can help with that too.
How to Unlock Sandbox Mode
When you first launch the game, Sandbox Mode will appear grayed out in the main menu. You don’t need to complete the entire game to access this feature. To unlock it, simply achieve a one-star campus in Freshleigh Meadows, the game’s initial level. This is typically achievable in less than an hour of gameplay.
In essence, obtaining a one-star campus is part of the game’s tutorial, guiding you through most of the necessary steps. By the end of the second year, by completing the required objectives, you should have your one-star campus.
After earning your star, you’ll gain access to the next campus. At that point, you can save your progress and exit to the main menu to enjoy the newly available Sandbox Mode.
Overview of Sandbox Mode
Sandbox Mode equips you with everything you need to design your dream campus experience in Two Point Campus. You can choose to unlock all features with modes like Creative, giving you much more money than you could ever spend, or you can create a more traditional or challenging experience depending on your preference.
The beauty of Sandbox Mode lies in its flexibility. All game maps become unlocked in this mode, so there’s no need to reach them through the main game first. However, it’s essential to consider the total number of plots available on the map you select.
More plots equate to extra space for your campus, which is especially important if you’re aiming to explore the Creative mode—choosing maps with the maximum available space is advisable. The following maps come with the highest plot count of ten:
- Piazza Lanatra
- Blundergrad
- Urban Bungle
Important Note
You can keep up to 20 active Sandbox Files at any given time before needing to delete one.
Additionally, you have the option to save Sandbox maps just like the main game campuses. These will be stored as Sandbox Files, allowing you to revisit your designs whenever you like.
All Modes in Sandbox
There are four sub-modes within Sandbox, each offering a unique take on campus management. Below is a brief description of each mode:
Sandbox Sub-Mode | Information |
---|---|
Standard | In this mode, you receive 75 Course Points and a cash starting point of $300,000. You’ll unlock university items using Kudosh points and progress through upgrades as you would in the main game. This is for players wanting a typical gameplay experience. |
Creative | This is where the Sandbox mode truly excels. You’ll start with an incredible $100 million and 25,000 Course Points, ensuring that cash will never be an issue. This mode allows for maximum creativity without the concern of running out of funds. |
Challenge | In Challenge mode, you begin with only $150,000 and 30 Course Points. Efficiency is vital, as managing limited resources is key to success. Be prepared for a tough experience that requires strategic planning. |
Custom | This mode lets you define your own rules for your campus. You can adjust settings like starting cash, Kudosh, monthly income, course points, plots, and upgrades. You also have the option to set specific objectives and disable certain events, like VIP visits. |
Tip
To ensure a more tranquil campus, consider disabling Disasters and Invader Challenges in the Custom Mode settings.
While exploring Sandbox, it’s best to experiment with different modes to find which one you enjoy the most. With the Creative mode, you might even find yourself frequently revisiting maps you love, injecting them with fresh inspiration to create your ideal university.
