Marvel Rivals is about to kick off its exciting new event, The Spring Festival, which will introduce a fresh, free skin for Star-Lord. You might be surprised that this event is happening so early in the year, but it aligns with the Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival in China. It seems that Marvel Rivals decided to avoid comparisons with Overwatch by naming it differently but still celebrating the same occasion.
The Spring Festival will feature a limited-time game mode similar to Overwatch’s Lucio Ball, where teams of three will go head-to-head. In this mode, players can only use Star-Lord, Black Widow, and Iron Fist, who will also receive new skins for the festival. While not all skins will be free, Star-Lord’s newly designed lion-themed outfit will be available at no cost.
How to Obtain Star-Lord’s Spring Festival Skin
Star-Lord’s new skin features a striking lion mask and a flowing mane, along with a fur-lined jacket and decorative details on his weapons. To unlock this unique look, you just need to participate in the Spring Festival Event and complete a set of challenges.
Although the specific tasks have yet to be revealed, it will likely be similar to the Winter Festival’s missions, where players had to complete specific challenges and gather a unique in-game currency to trade for event-related items. So, gear up for the new soccer-like mode and get ready to meet the event’s requirements to unlock Star-Lord’s new skin.

The Spring Festival for Marvel Rivals is set to commence on January 23, 2025, at 9:00 am UTC, which equates to 4:00 am EST or 1:00 am PST. This timing coincides with this year’s Lunar New Year, celebrated on January 22, 2025. Currently, there is no official end date announced for the event.
Drawing inspiration from Overwatch, it’s likely that this Spring Festival will become an annual tradition. Players who might not be thrilled with this year’s new skins could still have something exciting to look forward to, especially since, alongside Star-Lord’s new skin, Marvel Rivals will also roll out a skin for Spider-Man to celebrate the PC launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on January 30, 2025.
