With so many different types of containers in Saros, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, especially when you keep dying and restarting levels. However, there are some tips to help you move faster and keep things interesting, depending on your playing style.
Here are some helpful strategies to improve your experience and get the most out of each cycle. Even if you die multiple times, there’s always something new to discover with Arjun!
### Open Every Container
Whenever you enter a new area, scan around for containers. Inside, you can find weapons, artifacts, upgrades, and aether—these can be the difference between surviving or dying. Be sure to open every container you see.
Blue containers can be opened by interacting with them, red ones require a melee strike, and gold containers are locked and need a key. Keys aren’t always easy to find, but opening gold containers often grants better rewards than regular ones, so try to open them when possible.
### Collect Aether Wisely
When your armor’s health (HP) is full, green aether orbs can be turned into Lucenite. If you don’t need more health or can’t come back to collect it later, converting the aether lets you make good use of your resources.
Some areas allow you to backtrack and gather aether later, but most don’t. Be strategic and evaluate each situation so you can decide whether restoring health or saving Lucenite works best for you. Sometimes, focusing on more Lucenite is the smarter choice.
### Use Carcosan Modifiers
Once you unlock Carcosan Modifiers, start using them. These allow you to change the difficulty—adjust how much damage enemies deal and how much Lucenite you gather in each cycle.
Use these settings to make the game easier if you’re collecting collectibles or want a less challenging run. Conversely, if the game feels too easy, crank up the difficulty. You can customize your experience each cycle to keep it fresh and suited to how you want to play.
### Explore Every Side Path
Since maps change each cycle, it’s important to explore all side paths. They can lead to special rewards or help you restore health if it’s low. Keep in mind, though, that some side paths might have features you aren’t ready for yet, and the payoff might be minimal.
Not every side path will be worth your time every cycle, but it’s good to consider them. Learning which routes are best will come with experience, so weigh your options carefully.
### Use Your Shield Wisely
The shield is a key tool for Arjun, but it consumes Power to use. If you can’t use your Power Blast, certain pathways might stay locked, and tougher enemies can become more dangerous.
Charge your shield by absorbing energy from projectiles, but be cautious during an eclipse. The shield absorbs all projectiles, including corrupted ones, which can lower your maximum health. Using your shield thoughtfully is vital for survival.
### Study Enemy Patterns
Most enemies have predictable attack patterns. Some explode instantly when shot, while others need to be melee-attacked. Pay close attention to their behavior to learn how to defeat them efficiently.
Charged attacks with a red flash warn you that a dangerous move is coming. Know when to dodge and shield to stay alive longer each cycle and be prepared for tougher opponents.
### Dodge During the Eclipse
During the eclipse segment of a level, you need to switch from shielding and absorbing to dodging enemy attacks. Absorbing corruption reduces your maximum health permanently, with no easy way to clear it.
Dodge to avoid attacks and reposition quickly for counterattacks. If corruption gets the best of you, upgrading Arjun’s Second Chance ability can help—this will clear corruption and restore health after death.
### Upgrade Regularly
After each cycle, visit the primary upgrades and see what new options are available. Unless you’ve purchased everything, you can likely improve your next run with something new—be it more health, a stronger shield, or better Lucenite collection.
Consistently upgrading makes Arjun stronger each time. It’s a good idea to leave the camp with at least one upgrade to boost your survivability and effectiveness for the next cycle.
### Check Your Map Frequently
Your map is an important tool. It shows you your current location, nearby collectibles, and hidden pathways.
You can scan the map at any time by pressing the down button on your keypad. Use it to identify your main route and any side paths that might hold valuable rewards or shortcuts.
### Keep Dying to Improve
If you find yourself in a bad spot, just die and restart. If you’re about to face a boss or had a rough cycle, it’s sometimes better to start fresh.
You can always try again—each cycle is different. If luck isn’t on your side this time, dying and starting over can give you a better opportunity to succeed on the next run.
