Synduality: Echo of Ada is set in a world devastated by relentless rain that has decimated the human population, forcing survivors to take refuge underground. However, the situation worsens with the arrival of alien beings that seem intent on wiping out the remnants of humanity.
In Synduality, the enemy encounters primarily consist of Enders, the aforementioned aliens. These creatures are relatively simple in nature, attacking anything they spot. Although the variety of Enders isn’t extensive, each one presents unique challenges and requires different strategies to defeat. Let’s explore them.
What Are Enders?
Enders are a form of alien life, described in the game as xenomorphic beings. Their origins remain a mystery, and they don’t appear to be linked to anything native to the planet. They appeared with the rain and have lingered ever since.
Despite their intimidating presence, Enders are not impervious to damage. They can be taken down using energy weapons or standard firearms. However, they don’t always adhere to typical physical laws and can seemingly materialize out of thin air in bursts of purple smoke, then vanish just as quickly. This adds to their relentless nature.
During rainfall, Enders gain enhancements, glowing with a purple aura and increasing slightly in size. This change grants them extra health, defense, and attack strength. While they are always dangerous, a hit from a rain-boosted Ender can be deadly, especially if your protective gear is damaged.
Pro Tip
The quickstep maneuver available with your Cradlecoffin may not always provide invincibility frames, so it’s wise to keep your distance from Enders whenever possible.
Every Type of Ender
In Synduality, there are four primary types of Enders. Although this might seem limited given that they are your main adversaries, each type possesses distinct characteristics:
- Chaser – Resembling a canine, Chasers are the most common. They move swiftly and attack by lunging.
- Gazer – These flying Enders track targets from above, capable of targeting you across extensive areas and attacking with powerful energy orbs.
- Crawler – Insect-like and stationary until they see you, Crawlers chase their targets to self-detonate, causing significant damage. They usually appear in pairs.
- Incubator – Resembling a centipede, Incubators inhabit watery areas and sand pits. They can hide beneath the surface, launching projectiles or lunging at players.
Additionally, there are Parasitic Enders, which are infected Cradlecoffins. These operate similarly to regular Bandits and other players.
Each Ender has a core that serves as their weak point, typically located near their head:
- Chaser’s core is literally in its head.
- Gazer’s core is the eye at its center, but it can also be struck on its tail-like appendage.
- Crawler’s core is hidden within its nest, accessible only from above.
- Incubator’s core is located in its head and can only be hit from the front.
Material Drops From Each Ender
Materials in Synduality are generally found in predetermined locations but vary in rarity and can be challenging to collect consistently. Each Ender drops two materials, one common and one rare, making it easier to gather what you need, barring luck.
Here are the drops for each Ender and their respective rarities:
Ender | Material | Rarity |
---|---|---|
Chaser | Chaser Fangs | Common |
Chaser Core | Green Rarity | |
Gazer | Gazer Electroweb | Common |
Gazer Core | Green Rarity | |
Crawler | Crawler Heat Gland | Common |
Crawler Core | Blue Rarity | |
Incubator | Incubator Secretions | Common |
Incubator Core | Purple Rarity |
It’s also worth noting that Parasitic Enders drop items similar to regular Bandits and are not included in the table.
Chasers and Gazers frequently drop their cores, while Crawlers do so less often. Incubators are the rarest, which coincides with them being the least common enemy overall. Since Incubator cores are required for specific Requests, it’s wise to hold on to them until those tasks are completed.
