As players start exploring Saros and get familiar with the game mechanics, one of the first big challenges they’ll face is the game’s first major boss: The Prophet. This boss fight can be tough if you’re not yet comfortable with the combat mechanics or if you haven’t used some of the special Carcosan Modifiers from Primary.

Unlike its predecessor Returnal, Saros offers players some options if they’re struggling, so the fight doesn’t have to be too frustrating. Still, it’s recommended to unlock as many Armor Matrix upgrades as you can before facing The Prophet. Keep in mind, there’s a limit to these upgrades until you defeat the first boss.

### How to Find & Prepare for The Prophet in Saros

To reach The Prophet, the first major boss in Saros, you need to progress all the way to the end of the first biome, called Shattered Rise. If your Armor Matrix isn’t fully upgraded at this point, the fight might be quite difficult. If you’ve maxed out your Armor Matrix but still find the boss tough, try using Carcosan Modifiers like damage boosts or reducing corruption for added help.

For your loadout, I highly recommend using the Onslaught Rifle early on. Anything that fires rapidly and is accurate works well. Weapons with auto-aim are also useful, especially for handling the tentacle-like orbs during the fight.

### How to Defeat The Prophet

The Prophet boss fight has multiple phases, each getting more intense and reset when its health drops to zero. It has three phases, each with unique attacks that you need to counter with well-timed shields and dodges. During each phase, your first priority should be to shoot down the glowing yellow tentacle orbs on the wall behind The Prophet — these must be destroyed before you can deal damage to the boss itself.

Be careful to avoid the red vine-like plants around the arena, as they slow you down significantly. Also, remember to keep your Power charged by absorbing projectiles with your shield, as this allows you to deal damage quickly with your Power Weapon.

#### Phase 1

In the first phase, focus on destroying the yellow tentacle orbs. The boss will attack with:

– A slow barrage of blue projectiles — you can absorb or dodge these.
– Horizontal rows of corrupted projectiles, with small gaps to squeeze through; you can also shield absorb these if needed.
– A single red line claw attack that you should dodge or jump over.

Once the orbs are destroyed, The Prophet will start taking damage. Keep attacking while avoiding these main attacks:

– Homing blue projectiles that you can shield absorb to boost your Power.
– Slashes from corrupted orbs, which appear three times, with the final slash being horizontal. Dodge or block these attacks, or absorb them if you want to build Power.

When its health hits half, The Prophet becomes immune again. Repeat the same process to bring it down fully.

#### Phase 2

In the second phase, The Prophet opens its belly, sending out worms that dig into the ground and unleash waves of corrupted projectiles. Take out these worms first before focusing back on the wall orbs.

New attacks and upgrades include:

– More frequent blue projectile barrages.
– Two rows of corrupted projectiles fired in quick succession.
– Attacks with double- and triple-line claws, which must be dashed through or jumped over.
– Larger volleys of blue homing missiles that can be absorbed.
– More complex combinations of slashes and rolling projectile patterns.

After reducing its health to half again, the boss becomes invincible and you’ll repeat the damage cycle.

#### Phase 3

In the final phase, The Prophet surrounds Arjun with vine walls, limiting movement. Projectiles are spaced out enough to allow steady fire and dodges. Interestingly, The Prophet does not turn invulnerable at this stage, so with careful aim and some timing, you can finish it off. It’s the final hurdle to progress further in Saros.

Defeating The Prophet rewards you with the “Break the Cycle” trophy, and it’s an unavoidable boss — you must beat it to continue the game.

Good luck!
