Hunting bosses in Crimson Desert is one of the most exciting parts of your adventure through Pywel. You’ll face tough enemies like Marni’s Mecha Knight and Cubewalker Lithus along the way. Some bosses can be taken down with your strongest attacks, but others require careful strategy and understanding their mechanics.
Bloodwalker Crussis is one such boss that needs more than just brute strength. You’ll need to break down this powerful creature before you can deal damage. Here’s a quick guide on how to defeat Bloodwalker Crussis efficiently in Crimson Desert.
How to Start the Hunting Red Quest
The Hunting Red quest is part of the Pailune Militia faction quests. To begin, you need to complete two initial quests:
- The Crossroads of Succession (all nine steps)
- Dark Shadow Engulfing the Fort (all two steps)
These quests are listed under the Pailune Militia tab. After finishing both, you’ll automatically unlock the first step of the Bloodied Path quest chain. This chain’s main goal is to hunt down the Blood Walker, also known as Bloodwalker Crussis, a massive beast terrorizing local civilians.
Follow your map marker to the center of Pailune City and read the bounty notice you find. It’s a reward for the Blood Walker, a beast attacking innocent people. Once you read the bounty, your map updates to guide you to the south of Pailune, just west of the Pailune East Gate.
Preparing for Bloodwalker Crussis
When you arrive, you’ll see a giant creature similar to Cubewalker Lithus, called Bloodwalker Crussis. Before fighting, make sure you have these skills:
- Focus 3/3 (Spirit)
- Keen Senses (Spirit)
- Evasive Roll (Spirit)
- Stamina at level 8
- Health at level 4
- Spirit at level 5
If you favor a bow build, add these skills:
- Evasive Shot (Spirit)
- Focused Shot (Stamina)
- Marksmanship (Stamina)
For melee builds, focus on:
- Armed Combat (Stamina)
- Turning Slash (Stamina)
- Forward Slash (Stamina)
- Force Palm (Spirit)
Having these skills ready will help you face the boss effectively.
How to Defeat Bloodwalker Crussis
There are two main ways to stagger and weaken Bloodwalker Crussis:
- Shooting explosive arrows to fill its yellow ‘stun’ meter until it’s stunned.
- Using Focus (by pressing RS+LS or R3+L3), then releasing it with RB or R1 to unleash a staggering blast.
Using Focused Repulsion is especially effective because it stuns the boss immediately. During combat, choose your preferred method to weaken the boss and then attack its core once exposed. Hitting the yellow core does significant damage, especially when the beast is broken apart.
Be cautious when the boss goes underground, as it’s about to perform a deadly combo that can kill you instantly. The key to a quick victory is to:
- Trigger a Focus blast to disassemble it.
- Attack its weak spot as much as possible.
- When it starts reforming, stay close to the reformation spot and activate Focus again.
- As it reassembles, press RB or R1 to immediately stun it again.
- Deal as much damage as possible during these openings.
- Repeat this process until the boss falls.
What Rewards Do You Get for Defeating Bloodwalker Crussis?
Defeating the boss grants you several rewards:
- Bloodstained Blessing: Revives you instantly if you take fatal damage.
- Abyss Artifact
- Composure 1 Abyss Gear
- Destruction 1 Abyss Gear
- Power Core (Crown of Shadows)
To claim the Power Core, you need to use Axiom Force and seal it. Afterward, report your victory to the Pailune Militia to receive:
- Crossroads Necklace

The Crossroads Necklace offers:
- 3 Attack
- 3 Defense
- The Crossroads skill, which can either greatly restore or reduce your HP randomly.
