PlayStation 5 users can now try one of 2026’s top games for free. The recently released Resident Evil Requiem, a strong contender for Game of the Year, has a brand-new demo available for players to check out.
A free trial of Resident Evil Requiem is now accessible on the PlayStation Store. Best of all, you don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to give it a go, as the demo is open to everyone at no cost.
The demo offers a glimpse of the game’s beginning, with Grace Ashcroft investigating the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. It also features a short gameplay segment as Leon, allowing players to experience both characters’ perspectives.
Released earlier this year, Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth main installment in the Resident Evil series. It follows FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. The game was a quick hit, selling five million copies in just five days and surpassing seven million within the first two months, making it the fastest-selling Resident Evil title to date.
Critics praised the game heavily, and it has quickly established itself as a top contender for Game of the Year early in 2026.
The official description describes the experience as: “Immerse yourself in terrifying survival horror with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, and dive into intense action alongside legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Their intertwined journeys and distinct gameplay styles create a heart-pounding, emotional experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat.”
