As you progress through the main storyline of Wuthering Waves, you’ll encounter several limited characters like Changli and Jinhsi. Zhezhi stands out as the first limited character introduced outside of the main narrative, making her banner’s success rely heavily on her character traits and gameplay mechanics.
Despite these challenges, Zhezhi quickly established herself as one of the game’s top characters, thanks to her impressive skill set. She can significantly contribute to your team, but it’s crucial to use her effectively, as mismanaging her abilities can lead to setbacks.
Wait for Your Forte to Fill Up
When Zhezhi is active and you initiate basic attacks, you’ll notice the forte bar at the bottom gradually filling up with a blue hue. You can activate this forte once it reaches the second threshold, but for maximum benefit, it’s best to wait until it’s completely filled. This process doesn’t take much time.
Once your forte is filled, you can unleash three boosted Resonance Skills consecutively, with the third attack transforming into the Creation’s Zenith skill. This transformation occurs only if you use two Stroke of Genius skills within an eight-second window.
Use Zhezhi as a Support
After examining Zhezhi’s abilities, it’s clear that she can inflict substantial damage if utilized correctly. Her primary damage comes from the coordinated attacks initiated by her Liberation skill, which can deliver damage even when she’s not currently on the battlefield, as it activates with any attack.
In addition, Zhezhi possesses an Outro Skill that enhances the incoming resonator’s Glacio and Resonance Skill DMG, making her an excellent support choice for Carlotta and a great fit alongside Jinhsi. You’ll find that using Zhezhi as a support yields significantly greater value than assigning her as your primary DPS.
Maximize Your Concerto Gain
After engaging in battles in Wuthering Waves for some time, it becomes clear that staying alive isn’t your main challenge. Many game modes demand you defeat all enemies within a strict timeframe, making it tough to stick to the schedule without effective rotations.
As a support character, it’s crucial to streamline Zhezhi’s combat time as much as possible. To accomplish this, begin with basic attacks until your forte is filled, then use your skill, follow up with another basic attack, and finish with three basic attack skills. This sequence will almost guarantee you enough Concerto to switch off efficiently.
If you’re utilizing the Impermanence Heron echo on her, be sure to activate this ability right before switching off to prolong its effectiveness on the next resonator.
Zhezhi is Futureproof
Jiyan was the first limited character featured in Wuthering Waves, and he held the title of the best main DPS at that time. However, since then, characters like Jinhsi, Camellya, and Carlotta have surpassed him in power. In a live-service gacha game, you can expect regular power shifts that can render older DPS characters less viable.
Nevertheless, support characters like Zhezhi maintain their relevance in the meta for a longer duration. The only scenario in which she might be outclassed is if a new character with Glacio DMG and Resonance Skill DMG is introduced, along with coordinated attack abilities, which is unlikely to occur anytime soon.
Use Your Liberation at the End of Rotation
As a best practice, it’s advisable to use Zhezhi’s Resonance Liberation right at the conclusion of her turn when you’re about to swap her out, particularly when teaming her with Jinhsi. Zhezhi’s Liberation triggers coordinated attacks based on the attack speed of the active resonator, and her own attack speed is relatively slower.
If you activate her Liberation while attacking with faster characters like Carlotta or Jinhsi, you’ll reap the benefits more quickly because of their rapid attack rates. Although you’ll achieve coordinated attacks in either scenario, timing is a crucial factor in Wuthering Waves.
