In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Gems represent a distinct type of equipment that can be boosted by crafting additional Gems of the same variety. These Gems offer valuable bonuses that are significantly enhanced when combined with the appropriate weapon. However, the crafting process relies heavily on luck, so you’ll need to engage in it frequently to elevate your preferred Gems.
While the outcomes of your Gem crafting might seem random, there are ways to improve your chances. This guide will walk you through the fundamentals of Gem crafting and provide tips on how to enhance your Gems more effectively.
How to Craft Gems
To craft Gems, visit any Inn or Tent on the World Map. Select the Create Gems option from the Inn Menu, and you will be directed to the crafting interface.
Crafting becomes available once you obtain your first set of Pyroxene shortly after your initial encounter with Zhuhe.
Crafting Gems requires Pyroxene; each Pyroxene stone translates to one Gem. You can use the D-Pad to choose how many Gems to craft at once, limited to the amount of Pyroxene in your possession.
The Gems produced in each crafting session will be randomly selected from five different types. Occasionally, a single Pyroxene will yield a Satisfying Result, resulting in three copies of one particular Gem instead of just one.
Every copy of a Gem contributes to leveling up that Gem, boosting its effectiveness when equipped. The more of a single type you create, the stronger that Gem becomes.
How to Acquire Pyroxene
You can obtain Pyroxene occasionally as training rewards or through letters, but most of it will come from two primary sources:
- Defeating a Thief in battle grants 5 Pyroxene. Thieves generally appear against Bandits and other outlaw groups, though not too frequently.
- You can also pick up Pyroxene on the World Map. Look for orange crystals that slowly respawn, making it worthwhile to search the area from time to time.
What Are Gems For?
There are five types of Gems, and you can equip one at a time. Choose the right type for your character’s build or the specific challenges ahead to gain an upper hand.

Tips for Gem Crafting
After you unlock the Eyes of the Sacred Bird ability during Chapter One, you will have a chance to sense a glimmer in the Pyroxene each time you craft Gems. When this occurs, three Gem types will shine. The next batch you create will only include those three types, rather than the normal five.
Completing Yuanhua’s side quest in Chapter Three enables you to gather Moongrass on the World Map. Using Moongrass limits the glimmers to two Gem types, enhancing your crafting precision.
You can level up your most-used Gems by holding onto your Pyroxene until you spot a glimmer that signals them, then creating a batch with a lower likelihood of receiving Gems you’re not interested in. Here are two ways to approach this:
- Leaving the crafting screen and returning later until you find the desired Glimmer is time-intensive but maximizes your overall chances.
- Alternatively, you can craft Gems one at a time until a Glimmer appears, then create a larger batch. A new Glimmer opportunity arises after every batch, regardless of its size. This method consumes more Pyroxene but can help level up other Gems that might be beneficial if you decide to switch builds later on.
