Many guides have shown that there are various items and mechanics in Vampire Crawlers. You can modify how you play your cards, change your starting stats, build powerful characters, and more. One crucial item that can help you during your runs is Gems.
Gems can be acquired through different methods, and since there are many options you’ll unlock as you play, it’s important to understand the basics early on. This guide will briefly explain how Gems function, why they are so vital, and where you can find them in Vampire Crawlers.
How Gems Work
Gems are special items that provide boosts and perks to your cards. When you pick up a Gem, a window will appear showing all the cards in your deck that have an available slot. You can insert the Gem into these slots, and each time you use that card, the Gem’s effect will activate.
There are over 50 Gems in the game. You’ll need to unlock them before you can find them during your runs. Some examples of Gems include:
- Double and Triple Damage: These increase your damage output as indicated.
- Copy: When used, the card is duplicated.
- Armor: Adds armor to your character.
- Draw: Gives you an extra card.
- Easy Combo: The card benefits from the combo multiplier regardless of the mana rules, but the combo does not continue afterward.
- Luck: Increases your Luck stat.
- Refund: Your card won’t use Mana when played.
Gems often boost your stats just for the current encounter, not the entire run, and some activate specific effects during gameplay. There are also Gems that affect your Mana consumption.
Unlike your cards, Gems are not affected by the combo multiplier. For example, if a Gem increases your Luck by 20%, it will always provide the same boost.
You can see how to unlock each Gem in the Unlocks building located in your village.
How to Find Gems
There are three main ways to find Gems in Vampire Crawlers:
- Opening regular chests or boss chests, which can sometimes spawn a Gem.
- Unlocking purple-locked chests by sacrificing cards of the same color as the lock.
- Leveling up your character, which may reward you with a Gem.
Having higher Luck increases your chances of earning more rewards, including Gems, since you’ll have a greater probability of receiving four rewards instead of three during any reward phase.
