In Saros, where death is just the start, winning the game is really about repeatedly making the journey from point A to point B. The challenge is that you’ll be making that trip over and over more times than you can count.
Playing as Arjun in this sci-fi roguelite, your goal is to find answers on the planet Carcosa. Naturally, everything there wants to kill you. The bright side is that each death gives you a chance to upgrade your abilities and uncover more clues, bringing you closer to finding the truth.
### How Long Does It Take to Finish?
As is common with roguelites, you’re expected to die a lot in Saros. In fact, dying is part of how you progress. After each death, you get to improve your skills and gameplay, which helps you go farther next time. Because of that, having fewer deaths doesn’t necessarily mean your overall playtime will be shorter.
In my own playthrough, which involved a very large number of deaths, I finished in just over 30 hours. During that time, I explored thoroughly, seeking out collectibles but not hunting down every single one. If you focus mainly on the story, you’ll likely finish closer to 25 hours.
Another big factor affecting your time is how quickly you get comfortable with Saros’s controls. If you’ve played Returnal, you might have a slight edge since the gameplay mechanics are similar. Still, it’s something you’ll need some time to get used to.
Saros doesn’t have a traditional difficulty setting. However, you can use modifiers that make the game easier or harder depending on your preference. These will influence how long it takes you to complete the game.
### How Long to Fully Complete 100%?
There are 45 trophies to unlock in Saros, including the platinum trophy for earning all the others. Most trophies are obtained naturally through story progression, while some require extra effort, like defeating enemies in specific ways, completing certain challenges, or using the game’s optional mechanics.
Regarding collectibles, some trophies are linked mainly to Halcyon, with others not tied to specific items. It’s still worth collecting all the audio and text logs to get the full experience. If you aim to do everything necessary, you should plan for around 45 to 50 hours of gameplay.
