In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, several types of puzzles await players, but the only one on the Rivain Coast that requires assistance is the brazier puzzle, which you can solve alongside your companion, Taash. The fire-breathing Qunari can ignite these braziers, but that’s just one piece of the puzzle. If you find yourself stuck, don’t worry—you’re not alone. There’s no timer on the braziers, nor any guidance on the sequence in which to light them.
While many puzzles in Veilguard can be tackled without hints, this one was particularly challenging for me. The braziers’ distances made it difficult to move quickly between them. Plus, I couldn’t spot any clues that would lead me to the solution. Nevertheless, I persevered, and my efforts paid off with some rewards.
Clifftops Brazier Puzzle Solution on Rivain Coast
Light Each Brazier in the Correct Order
Your first encounter with the brazier puzzle occurs in the Cliffside area of the Rivain Coast, specifically located south of the Eluvian and west of the Gray Warden Vault. This area becomes accessible during the “For Gold And Glory” quest or even earlier if you’re an adventurer like me. Make sure you’ve recruited Taash, as their flame is essential for igniting these braziers.
Remember, lighting a brazier out of order will extinguish it and any previously lit braziers, forcing you to restart.
Upon entering the area, you’ll need to light the braziers to complete the puzzle. Start with the one on the eastern side, perched on a small cliff ledge. The second brazier is located to the north near a waterfall, and the third one is down by the Beacon. After lighting the third brazier, you’ll uncover a hidden cave containing a chest and some items. Although this puzzle isn’t overly complicated, the lack of clear instructions makes it a bit tricky.
Tide Flats Brazier Puzzle Solution on Rivain Coast
This Brazier Puzzle Requires Patience
At a certain point during your journey, some areas of the Rivain Coast will be off-limits, with new passages blocked or impossible to access. The Tide Flats is one such area that only opens up later in Veilguard’s second act. Once you reach the northern section of the Rivain Coast, you’ll discover a bone gate sealed with three more braziers.
Unlike the braziers in the Clifftops, these ones operate on a timer. Begin by lighting the northwest brazier located just outside the bone door, then make a dash to the others. In contrast to the earlier braziers, you must ignite all four in quick succession. If you miss the window, they will all extinguish, as the Wisps at DA: The Veilguard‘s Lighthouse will only accompany you briefly.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Unlocking Every Secret Area in the Lighthouse
As your hub in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the Lighthouse contains its own mysteries waiting to be discovered.
The second brazier is situated in the southeast near the coast, and you will need Assan’s assistance to dig it out from the sand. Keep an eye out for the button prompt to do so, then make your way to the third brazier located in the tower beside the large ribcage on the beach. Use Harding’s skill to raise the stones nearby to access the tower.
If you’re having difficulty lighting all the braziers in the time limit, try digging up the second and raising the rocks for the fourth before you start running. This way, they will stay lit, making your next attempt more manageable.
The last brazier is not far from the first one, but it’s situated at a different height level. Find the ladder to your left as you approach the door, and another ladder leading to a cliff. Follow the cliff’s edge and find the final brazier. Have Taash light it quickly to unlock the door. It does require some speed, but overall, this brazier puzzle is quite manageable.
Rewards for Completing the Brazier Puzzles in Rivain Coast
Discover Armor, Trinkets, And More!
Both brazier puzzles on the Rivain Coast yield similar rewards. Completing the first puzzle grants you some armor for Rook, a “Dwarven Key” trinket for Harding, and a message to collect. Like many of the chests in Veilguard, the rewards aren’t extraordinary, but they’re valuable enough to make the effort worthwhile.
While exploring the Rivain Coast, be sure to check out interesting side quests the area has to offer.
The second brazier puzzle in the Tide Flats provides comparable rewards. It consists of one chest containing “Fortune’s Favor +9” armor for Taash, a keepsake, and crafting materials for your efforts. While I find the brazier puzzles to be the least engaging type of puzzle in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, they are simple enough to still be worth tackling.
