As you navigate through the various regions in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll consistently uncover side quests that unlock additional assassination targets, similar to the Shinbakufu. One such quest is the Corrupt Daikan, which presents you with six targets to eliminate.
You can access this quest fairly early in the game, typically from Kuma while progressing through the Omi storyline. Most of the targets will be located within Omi, but you will need to travel to other provinces to track them down as well.
Finding the Soiled Merchant
Upon entering Omi from the south, you’ll discover the Soiled Merchant, also known as Isshiki Mansaku. As you come in from the river’s left side, you’ll enter the Mouth of Seta region. The settlement you’re looking for lies to the northwest of this area on the map.
To reach it, head to the southern section to access the Otsu Lower District. Activating observer mode will highlight the merchant’s location with blue dots. He resides in a cluster of houses surrounded by tall trees, but there is a rear entrance that you can find.
To gain access, walk through the dense trees on the southern side of his property.
Eventually, you’ll spot a larger rooftop to climb, allowing you to take out the soldier below. On your left, you’ll see the Corrupt Daikan.
Finding the Hedonist
The next target, known as The Hedonist or Okudaira Toshizo, can be located in the Ado River Valley on Omi’s western side, just below where the river bends to the left. To the east of this map position is Omizo city, which sits along the shoreline.
From the Kakurega in this city, head northeast until you encounter hostile enemies in a cluster of buildings. You’ll find a small entrance at the base of a house on the eastern side. Proceed through this dark passage, and it will lead you directly to the Daikan for a stealthy assassination.
Finding the Hoarder
Izumi Bunzo, also referred to as The Hoarder, can be found on an island north of Lake Biwa. There’s a fast travel point on this island, but it’s advisable to continue with the main quest of The Mourner assassination for this target.
As you progress through that storyline, you’ll eventually be guided to the island. There’s a small cave on the northern side that serves as the entrance, and you’ll find the Daikan located at the very top right outside the area where The Mourner is located.
Finding the Concubine
The Concubine, known as Ise Asuka, is located in the large settlement of Kyoto, situated in the heart of the Yamashiro region. Start by teleporting to the Southern Kyoto Kakurega and head northeast until you cross a small river running through the village.
After crossing the river, activate observer mode to pinpoint the target’s location. He’ll be sitting in the open, enjoying some music. You can easily approach from behind to take him out and then escape if you prefer to avoid a confrontation with the guarding samurai.
Finding the Sword Hunter
The Sword Hunter is another Corrupt Daikan positioned in the Omi region, specifically on the eastern side of Lake Biwa. To reach the village, follow the coastline either south from Nagahama city or north from the Suzuka Foothills viewpoint.
This small village, nestled among some fields and buildings, contains Gamo Morinari’s camp in the northern cluster. Expect to encounter numerous soldiers in the area, and be prepared as the Daikan has three bars of health. Stealth is your best option; with some upgrades, you can eliminate him swiftly using a Kunai.
Finding the Connoisseur
The Connoisseur, the final target in the Corrupt Daikan questline, is referred to as Endo Riku. He’s not easy to find and will require some travel. He can be discovered at Kanegasaki Castle in the Wakasa region, located at the northern edge of the map.
You can avoid direct fights by sneaking to the fast travel point within the castle, where the Daikan is situated just beneath you. Approach the nearby building, and you can eliminate him with a Kunai if you have the necessary buffs to take down his three health bars.
Defeating each Corrupt Daikan awards you 2,000 EXP and two Mastery Points, plus a purple-tier piece of gear.
Once you’ve taken down all the Daikan, return to Kuma in Omi to receive your ultimate rewards, including a Gold, 5,000 EXP, and the Minogame’s Protection amulet from Lady Nene.
