In the game Foundation, providing quality food is essential for keeping your villagers happy and satisfied. The game includes several food types, such as rustic, refined, and monastic foods. You’ll need to understand what your villagers prefer and ensure there’s enough food available for everyone.
One of the refined foods you can produce is bread, which is made from wheat. You can access wheat fairly early in the game, and while obtaining it is relatively straightforward, you’ll need to create a system for growing wheat and producing bread, which can take up a good amount of space within your territory.
Growing Wheat
To start growing wheat, you first need to buy the Farming option from the Progression menu. This option costs 50 gold and becomes available once you’ve reached at least level ten in Progression. Purchasing it will unlock several structures:
- Wheat Farm
- Windmill
- Bakery
Once you have the Farming option, you will need to set up a wheat farm within your territory. After the farm is built, you can assign up to three farmers to work there. Once the farm is ready, you can designate the area where your crops will grow.
The game will inform you if the field is too big or too small based on the number of farmers you’ve assigned. After marking the area, your farmers will begin cultivating wheat.
If space is an issue, you can also buy wheat from the Myddle Kingdom after opening its trade route. This can be a practical solution if you can’t spare the land for a wheat farm.
Making Bread
Once you have established your wheat farm and harvested some wheat, the next step is to build a windmill to convert wheat into flour. Each windmill can process four units of wheat into one unit of flour, which means you’ll need to maintain a steady wheat production to keep up with your bread-making demands.
After you’ve produced flour, the next construction to tackle is the bakery. A bakery requires three units of flour and one unit of water to create five loaves of bread. You can provide water by building a well near the bakery, which should suffice for its needs.
It’s also crucial to assign a place for the bread in your granary so bakery workers have a location to store the bread. Additionally, to ensure your villagers have access to it, you’ll need to set up market stalls where they can buy bread to meet their needs.
