Foundation lets you create your ideal village by choosing to focus on economic growth, military might, or religious endeavors. There’s plenty to engage with in this game, and trying to manage everything at once can be a bit daunting—especially if this is your first experience with this type of game.
As you advance, you will be tasked with appointing a Bailiff, which happens after establishing your village and beginning to produce essential goods. This task can be challenging, as it’s one of the earlier objectives that doesn’t have a clear set of instructions.
How To Appoint A Bailiff
Assigning a Bailiff is crucial for enhancing trade routes and authorizing mandates. First, you need to unlock the Bailiff’s Office from the progression menu, which requires you to have unlocked the Manor House through the Labour faction.
The process for appointing a Royal Courtier or a Monastic Emissary is similar. You’ll first need to unlock the Castle Keep and Monastery via the Progression menu for these roles.
To unlock the Bailiff’s Office, you’ll need at least 25 Splendour to access tier two Labour buildings. You can boost your Labour Splendour by constructing buildings that specifically increase it, which are marked with a star icon. After raising your Splendour, you’ll also need five Labour Influence to unlock the Bailiff’s Office.
Your Labour Influence increases as you complete quests. As you work on raising your Labour Splendour, you will encounter quests that also boost your Labour Influence. Once you have gathered the necessary five Labour Influence, you can access the Bailiff’s Office from the Progression menu.
After unlocking the Bailiff’s Office, head over to the Administration section in the build menu and choose the Manor House. Building a Bailiff’s Office has three main requirements:
- One Room Sub-Building
- One Interior Access Sub-Building
- Light Fortification
While building the required sub-buildings is straightforward, achieving the light fortification can be a bit tricky. Some room types naturally provide light fortifications, such as the Manor Tower Minor and Manor Tower Major, identifiable by a small fence icon.
If you have previously constructed a building that offers light fortification, denoted by the purple circle in build mode, you can place any room structure within it to satisfy the light fortification requirement for the Bailiff’s Office.
Once you’ve met all these requirements, simply hit the build button to begin constructing the Bailiff’s Office. After it is completed, click on the office and select the option to assign a Bailiff.
Upon doing this, you will be presented with a selection of three candidates for the Bailiff role. Each candidate offers a unique bonus, allowing you to pick one that best fits your strategy.
How To Use The Bailiff
While appointing a Bailiff provides a passive boost to your village’s performance, you still need to take some additional steps to maximize their usefulness. To make use of the Bailiff, go to the Manor Great Hall, where your administration operates. Here, you will find a list of mandates the Bailiff can authorize.
Be aware that these mandates require an upfront cost before the Bailiff begins work. After the designated time has elapsed, you’ll receive the anticipated rewards.
