Foundation allows players to create their own settlements at a comfortable pace. There’s plenty to do in this game, but the initial quests guide you step-by-step as you work towards constructing your dream kingdom.
If you’ve chosen to pursue the Clergy path, focusing on the spiritual needs of your villagers, or aiming for greater Clergy Splendor and Influence, establishing a Monastery in your settlement is essential. While building a Monastery for the first time can seem daunting, following this guide will make the process simple.
How to Construct a Monastery
Like other main buildings from various factions, the Monastery can be built in segments. Once you reach Progression Level 12 and unlock it in the Progression menu, you can start by creating a Monastery Great Hall as your centerpiece. Here’s how to efficiently construct Monastery buildings:
- Access the build menu and select ‘Monastery.’ This will provide a range of structures for you to choose from based on your requirements.
- Select a ‘Room’ type structure, bearing in mind to choose one that utilizes materials you already possess.
- Pick an ‘Interior Access’ sub-building to connect different parts of the Monastery.
- For a Great Hall, be sure to add a ‘Visitor Location’ marker; this is not necessary for other Monastery buildings.
If you seek to enhance your Clergy Splendor and Influence, you can customize these buildings further by adding decorative elements. Look for those that feature a small star icon, as they contribute to Clergy Splendor.
While you can construct buildings from any faction, remember that if you’ve already constructed a Great Hall from the Kingdom or Labour paths, you won’t be able to build the Monastery Great Hall. Additionally, if you’ve built a Monastery Great Hall, you won’t be able to meet the requirements for the Kingdom and Labour Aspirations when setting up your map.
Different Monastery structures come with varying requirements. For instance, if you’re planning to add a herb garden, you first need to create a production building and a resource depot. You can verify these requirements by selecting a structure type from the Monastery menu and checking the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Unbuilt parts essential for your desired structure will show a red exclamation mark, while completed parts will display a green check mark.
You also have the freedom to modify the sub-buildings even after completing the entire structure. Simply select the building and click the ‘Edit Building’ button, represented by a hammer icon.
