Black Knight Edredd is a powerful field boss in Elden Ring, located at the Fort of Reprimand. As part of Messmer’s elite forces, this knight is bound to serve Queen Marika through battle and bloodshed.

Within the Shadow of the Erdtree, Black Knights pose a serious challenge, and Edredd is no exception. In this guide, we’ll help you locate him and outline effective strategies to defeat him with ease.

Where to Find Black Knight Edredd in Elden Ring

You can find Black Knight Edredd at the far end of the Fort of Reprimand in Elden Ring. The fort is situated on Scadu Altus, just south of the Highland Cross site of grace.

There’s a similar boss known as Black Knight Garrew, located inside Fog Rift Fort, ready for battle.

To reach Black Knight Edredd, make your way to the rooftops of the Fort of Reprimand, where you’ll find a small room housing him. The fort is filled with Omenkiller enemies and others who wield fiery attacks.

Black Knight Edredd’s Stats and Weaknesses

Black Knight Edredd boasts 9,792 HP in Elden Ring. If you encounter the Golden Eyed variant of Edredd, however, expect a significant increase in HP.

This boss has 123 Defense and 65 Stance. You can achieve critical hits by parrying his strikes or breaking his stance.

Edredd is vulnerable to Lightning, Poison, Scarlet Rot, and Sleep, but he is immune to Madness. While he has a strong defense against Slash attacks, using Pierce attacks can deal considerable damage.

Optimal Build for Black Knight Edredd

As a highly agile boss, Black Knight Edredd employs swift Physical attacks with his Twinblades, punishing any openings in your defense.

To maximize your chances, we suggest utilizing a Backhand Blade with Lightning Grease, or a Sorcerer build featuring Ancient Dragon incantations.

Prioritize Dexterity for the first build and invest in Faith for the second. Consider equipping a Gravel Stone Seal to enhance your dragon incantations for massive Lightning damage.

Using the Deflecting Hardtear will help you avoid damage, especially since we won’t focus on shield use during this encounter. Balance your Flasks between healing and FP.

For talismans, make sure to prioritize Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, Millicent’s Prosthesis, and Flock’s Canvas Talisman.

Effective Strategy to Defeat Black Knight Edredd

As a lower-level Crucible Knight, Black Knight Edredd employs winged attacks. One of his primary moves is a Slash Attack, where he swings his Twinblades in a wide arc.

This move can be dodged by rolling sideways, giving you a good opportunity to strike back.

Another attack is a jump slam, where Edredd leaps high and crashes down with his weapon. Timely dodging to the side when he’s above you will help avoid damage.

He can also unleash a dangerous 6-hit combo of blade attacks. This sequence can be tough to block, but it’s best to dive towards him during the first strike and then evade to the left.

This tactic allows you to avoid most of his strikes while giving you a chance to retaliate.

The final and most threatening attack sees Black Knight Edredd summon golden crucible wings and charge at players while swinging his twinblade. That attack is often followed by additional strikes, so keep your distance.

Once you’ve learned to avoid his moves, you’ll find that whittling down his health becomes manageable and the fight will conclude faster than expected.

Upon defeating Black Knight Edredd, you’ll receive 80,000 Runes (or 400,000 Runes if you’re facing the Golden Eyed variant) along with the Aspects of the Crucible: Wings ash of war.
