As you explore the ever-changing terrain of Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, you’ll frequently encounter individuals who are in various predicaments. Many are open about their struggles and will soon have you juggling tasks, requests, and personal stories that connect to the characters scattered throughout the game.
However, not every challenge starts with you seeking someone out. Sometimes, the adventure finds you first. A stranger might call your name, a passerby could grab your attention, or you might be stopped by guards, leading you into a situation larger than you anticipated.
How to Begin the Tightening the Screws Quest
Once you arrive in Cuanacht, which is the game’s second area, head south to a spot known as Last Tree.
Here, you’ll come across a small camp, and as you get closer, two guards will block your path.
Initially, they’ll suspect you’re with the bandits who have been causing them trouble, but they’ll soon realize you’re just a traveler.
This is when they consider that you might assist them in identifying the saboteur and unraveling the mystery surrounding this troublemaker.
This is where the Tightening the Screws quest kicks off.
How to Finish the Tightening the Screws Quest
At the camp, there are several individuals you can talk to for more information, but you should seek out Mervyn, who stands near the bonfire.
After mistaking you for someone else, choose the first dialogue option to get details about the bandits’ hideout. Once your conversation wraps up, you’ll discover the cave’s location, which is just east of the camp.
Head over there and find the entrance nestled on the rock’s edge. Step inside.
Be prepared for enemies inside the cave, so ensure you handle them effectively.
Make your way toward the end of the cave, where the bandit camp awaits, and take care of any threats you find. Afterward, look for the table in that area.
On it, you will find a letter titled Letter Written in Coal. Collect it to complete this quest, setting you up for the next, called Burdening Letter.
