In Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, you will spend plenty of time engaging with NPCs or tending to your farm, but don’t overlook the importance of combat. Figuring out how to maximize damage against your foes is crucial.
Your combat effectiveness mainly comes from your character stats, but knowing how to leverage the elemental attributes in the game can give you a significant advantage. There are seven elemental attributes, with six actively used in battles.
Understanding Each Elemental Attribute
In Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, you’ll encounter seven elements: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Light, Dark, and Love. Generally, you would find that certain attributes are effective against others, but this game has a unique twist. Here, each element is strong and weak to the same attribute. For instance:
- Fire is strong against Water and vice versa.
- Wind is strong against Earth and vice versa.
- Light is strong against Dark and vice versa.
Love is the exception, as it doesn’t interact with other elements and cannot be used in combat.
Instead, it’s meant for befriending various monsters.
To determine if you’re dealing increased damage due to elemental weakness, pay attention to the color of your damage output. Yellow indicates high damage, white means standard damage, and gray shows reduced damage. If you strike an enemy with the same element, expect to deal less or even no damage.
Using Each Elemental Attribute Effectively
Now that you know about the elemental attributes, understanding how to utilize them is vital. The primary way to employ these attributes is by using the appropriate Sacred Treasure for attacks:
Element |
Sacred Treasure |
---|---|
Love |
Plum Branch, Iroha’s Fan |
Earth |
Sacred Drum |
Fire |
Sacred Sword |
Wind |
Sacred Fan |
Water |
Sacred Parasol |
Dark |
Sacred Oni Mask |
Light |
Sacred Staff |
Out of these treasures, the Love and Earth treasures do not directly inflict damage through normal attacks.
If you wish to deal Earth damage using your Sacred Treasure, you’ll need to leverage its special abilities.
In addition to using Sacred Treasures, you can also deal elemental damage in the later stages of the game by crafting various weapons or Talismans. Note that Fire can deal extra damage without a specific weapon since charged attacks from your bow or standard weapons can also inflict additional fire damage when the Sacred Sword is equipped.
