Discovering Illusory Anchors in Kell’s Fall
In the world of Destiny 2, Kell’s Fall offers a variety of hidden features for players to uncover on multiple playthroughs. Once you’ve acquired Slayer’s Fang, you can begin your quest to find a series of illusory anchors within the mirror realm. By destroying these anchors using Slayer’s Fang, new catalyst perks for the weapon become available.
How to Identify Illusory Anchors
Finding these illusory anchors is fairly easy. Here’s a brief overview of how they work, how to destroy them, and a guide to all 12 anchor locations, organized by catalyst type for your convenience.
Conditions for Anchor Appearance
Illusory Anchors will only appear if:
- You have completed Kell’s Fall at least once.
- You are playing on Expert difficulty.
After your initial run of Kell’s Fall, make sure to talk to Eido in the Last City to receive all the catalyst quests for Slayer’s Fang. Each of these four quests requires you to take down 20 enemies while a Tonic is active and locate three illusory anchors within Kell’s Fall.
How to Break the Anchors
To destroy the anchors, you will need to use Slayer’s Fang. They resemble closed, semi-transparent Hive Shrieker shells. Each encounter contains three anchors to break. Once you destroy all anchors and complete the mission on Expert difficulty, you’ll unlock a specific catalyst tied to that set of anchors.
Illusory Anchor Set #1: Mirror Plane
Location
- Area: Mirror Gallery
- Encounter: Before the first encounter
- Catalyst Reward: Repulsor Brace
You’ll find three anchors in the Mirror Gallery during your first entry into the mirror realm:
- After entering, turn left and walk down the hallway to a dead end; the first anchor will be floating next to a locked door.
- Turn back and follow the corridor to the end where you’ll see the second anchor beside another door.
- In the room with overgrown branches, face the door opposite anchor #2 and get close to it to spot the third anchor.
Destroy all three and complete the mission on Expert difficulty to earn the Repulsor Brace catalyst for Slayer’s Fang.
Illusory Anchor Set #2: Fighting Pit
Location
- Area: Fighting Pit
- Encounter: First encounter
- Catalyst Reward: Loose Change
In the Fighting Pit during the Mad Bomber encounter, look for the anchors:
- In the center of the room, the first anchor is floating above the middle plate.
- Head to the right side of the room, up the stairs, where the second anchor is near a table.
- The third anchor can be found on a wall next to a statue near the entrance.
Break these anchors and finish the mission on Expert difficulty to unlock the Loose Change catalyst.
Illusory Anchor Set #3: Sanctum
Location
- Area: Sanctum
- Encounter: Second encounter
- Catalyst Reward: Stats for All
During the Mindbender encounter, you will find the third set of anchors:
- The first anchor is directly behind the mirror portal when you enter the mirror realm.
- Enter the Mindbender’s boss arena and turn right to find the second anchor next to a table.
- Slide under a hole at the opposite end of the room and look for the third anchor near the spawn point of a brazier.
Break all three and complete the mission on Expert difficulty to receive the Stats for All catalyst.
Illusory Anchor Set #4: Revenant Plane
Location
- Area: Revenant Plane
- Encounter: Final encounter
- Catalyst Reward: Cascade Point
In the final encounter of Kell’s Fall, locate the last three anchors:
- The first anchor is floating in front of Mara Sov’s throne.
- Turn around and go to the corner on your left to find the second anchor near the statue’s head.
- After exiting the mirror, go up the stairs and you’ll find the third anchor floating to your right next to another statue.
Once you break all three anchors, defeat Fikrul to acquire the Cascade Point catalyst for Slayer’s Fang.
