After a leak leaked early, Capcom unexpectedly released a free PS5 update for one of its 2026 Game of the Year contenders. Fans of Resident Evil Requiem now have a new reason to dive back into the game, thanks to a fresh minigame mode that promises endless hours of intense action.
The new update, called Leon Must Die Forever, becomes available after players finish the main campaign. It offers a challenge where players fight through areas they’ve already explored in the game and take on the final boss once more. This time, the enemies are tougher variants, and players can progress through five levels of increasing difficulty, all while racing against the clock.
Completing enemies in Leon Must Die Forever unlocks special “enhancer abilities” that are exclusive to this minigame. Each playthrough offers a different experience with varying abilities to help keep the gameplay exciting and unpredictable.
The update also includes several bug fixes across all platforms to improve overall performance.
Capcom also announced some additional goodies in a recent press release. They revealed new merchandise for Leon Must Die Forever, including T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies, now available on Amazon. Furthermore, the first-ever Resident Evil amiibo figures are set to launch on July 30, featuring the main characters Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil Requiem.
