Regularly visiting the grocery store on your island in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is important. Make sure to pick up a variety of meals, snacks, and drinks for your Miis to enjoy throughout the day.

There are over 460 food items in the game, but it takes time to unlock all of them since you can only buy a few each day. This guide will help you understand how to feed your Miis their favorite foods effectively.

We’ll keep updating this as we work towards unlocking every food item in the game.

Buy Food and Feed Your Miis Regularly

Feeding your Miis often is the best way to make them happy and earn related trophies. Keep in mind that each Mii has specific food preferences—some foods they love, some they like, and others they dislike.

Foods are divided into three categories:

  • Meals and sides (symbolized by a loaf of bread): Main dishes, appetizers, side dishes, and more.
  • Desserts and sweets: Cakes, fruits, ice creams, and treats.
  • Beverages: Hot or cold drinks, which are the smallest category.

There are a total of 465 foods in the game, visible in the catalog menu. Unlocking them involves restrictions—initially, your options are based on your regional preferences, like carnival foods in the U.S. or spicy dishes in LATAM. As you uncover more native foods, more international dishes begin to appear.

Regular visits to Fresh Kingdom are key. Check daily, especially the four Daily Specials, to see what new foods they have. Purchasing items from these specials adds them to your main shop, so stock up whenever possible.

You can also find good deals or even unlock new foods during the three daily marketplace markets. Sometimes, a mystery bag purchased during a marketplace sale can contain a new dish.

If a Mii dreams about a specific food, they will get to eat one servings when they wake up, unlocking that food at the store afterward.

When feeding your Miis, they have different satiety levels, shown by a stomach icon on their profile:

  • Foods that fill their stomach three-quarters full—like dense meats or starches—offer the biggest happiness boost.
  • Foods that fill them halfway—smaller meals or desserts—give a moderate boost.
  • Smaller items like fruits or veggies fill only one-quarter and give a small happiness increase.

Remember, their stomachs don’t stay empty forever. Make frequent visits to give them new foods, but they will refuse foods that fill them too much.

Miis have unique food preferences. On their info cards, you’ll see two favorites, two least favorites, and three liked foods. These preferences can shift as they discover new dishes. Finding their favorite foods grants a big happiness boost—often enough to level them up. Conversely, feeding a Mii their least favorite can significantly decrease their happiness, undoing progress.

Feeding Miis their favorite foods not only boosts their happiness but also helps with leveling up. They tend to refuse eating the same liked food twice in a row, so keep offering variety.

You can also give your Miis quirks to alter their eating habits. Miis with Big Appetite can eat 125% of a normal Mii’s capacity, while those with Small Appetite only fit 75%. Normal Miis have a capacity of 100%.

Unlocking New Foods

To add new foods to your collection:

  • Visit Fresh Kingdom daily and check the Daily Specials.
  • Watch for sales at the Marketplace; sometimes you get lucky, or you might find mystery bags with new items.
  • When a Mii dreams about a food, eating that food will unlock it at the store.

Create Custom Food at the Palette House

Once you unlock the Palette House, you can make your own custom foods. Food is the first item you can design there. Unlike other custom items that require Warm Fuzzies, you can start making dishes as soon as the Palette House is available.

You can draw anything you like—real food or totally imaginary—and purchase it for about $5 per dish from the Custom tab at Fresh Kingdom.

Keep in mind, custom foods might appear in mini-games, like the Pixel or Shadow Quiz, so remember what you’ve designed!
