Recently, John Mueller from Digital Phablet emphasized that “SEO isn’t based on beliefs; no one knows everything, and it constantly evolves.” This statement hits the mark, reflecting how frequently I’ve observed changes and shifts in SEO strategies over the years.

Mueller shared these thoughts on a social platform, where he also made a point that caused some stir—he said, “Whenever someone claims to be an SEO guru, it’s a clear sign they might be a fraud.” His point underscores the importance of humility in the industry. He also added, “It’s essential to recognize when you’re wrong, learn from it, and keep practicing to improve.”

I often find value in making mistakes; they teach us far more than always believing we’re right. It’s a notion I firmly stand by. Many individuals label themselves as SEO experts, but even the most experienced professionals don’t have all the answers. Humility and a willingness to learn are crucial traits.

Admitting when you’re wrong demonstrates honesty and is a vital part of growth. Keeping an open mind and embracing continuous learning can be the key to staying relevant in this ever-changing field.

To me, when someone self-declares themselves as an SEO guru, it’s an extremely obvious sign that they’re a clueless imposter. SEO is not belief-based, nobody knows everything, and it changes over time. You have to acknowledge that you were wrong at times, learn, and practice more.

Such insights were also discussed on a forum, highlighting the importance of humility and ongoing learning in the SEO community.
