Samsung Galaxy S24 To Offer Live Call Translation

Marking their entry into the world of artificial intelligence (AI), Samsung has showcased the impressive AI resources of their latest Galaxy S24 smartphone line, including a live translation feature bound to revolutionize multinational communication.

The feature was unveiled at Samsung’s launch event where the company disclosed how AI could escalate the calling experience for customers. The new feature allows users to make or receive calls in languages they may not understand and get simultaneous translations. The translations will be available audibly and visually on the screen improving accessibility and understanding.

Samsung exhibited the prowess of the AI innovation at the Unpacked event. A demo showed how the feature could aid in making restaurant reservations, despite setbacks like not knowing Spanish. The native Call app was utilized where the real-time translation feature seamlessly translated the ongoing conversation. The seamless translation allowed the person on the other end to comprehend and respond in Spanish, which was in turn translated back into the caller’s language, English.

“This feature is like having a personal interpreter accompanying your calls,” said Drew Blackard, Samsung’s VP of Product Management.

Samsung shared that the novel live translation feature will make its debut with support for text and audio translations in 13 languages. The feature translates the conversations on-device, aggregating to user privacy and confidential call details as they remain exclusive to the device.

In a bid to augment user experience, the specialty feature will also remember, store, and automatically update language settings for each contact. This futuristic modification is aimed at frequent international callers and globetrotters.

The live translation feature’s utility extends beyond voice calls. It can translate verbal or text commands for the user and reciprocate for the other person.

The groundbreaking technology aims to bridge language gaps, promoting global interactions. It is a representation of how Samsung continues to elevate everyday communication experiences for their global customer base.
