WhatsApp is preparing to roll out a new security feature that will enable Android users to monitor activity across all their linked devices in real time. This addition aims to bolster account security and give users better control over their devices.

As the use of multiple devices increases, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, recognizes the importance of stronger security measures to help users manage their accounts more effectively. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently in development and is included in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.15.6. It will allow users to see live activity updates across connected devices.

Currently, users can manage linked devices via the Linked Devices menu, but this requires manual checks, which can be inconvenient. The upcoming update intends to make this process easier by sending automatic alerts whenever another device becomes active while the main device is in use.

For example, if a user keeps WhatsApp Web open on a computer while chatting on their phone, they will receive a notification alerting them to activity on multiple devices. This will help users detect unauthorized access quickly and review active sessions without having to manually dig through device settings.

These notifications will only be sent to the primary device and only if simultaneous activity is detected, so users aren’t overwhelmed with alerts. The feature is still in development and will be rolled out in future updates, initially available to select users before becoming more widely accessible.

This new development follows the release of WhatsApp beta version 2.24.11.9, which introduced chat lock features on linked devices. This allows users to secure conversations with a passcode directly from companion devices, extending privacy protections beyond the primary device where chat locks were initially available.

Previously, sensitive chats locked only on the main device, leaving conversations on linked devices less protected. The latest updates aim to expand chat lock capabilities to all linked devices through a secret code system, enhancing user privacy across the board.
