The United States has observed indications that Iran is attempting to reconstruct its nuclear program following targeted strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities conducted in June, according to Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday. President Donald Trump has consistently stated that those June operations resulted in the destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and has pledged to prevent Tehran from re-establishing its nuclear capabilities.
Vance emphasized, “The core principle is straightforward: Iran must not possess a nuclear weapon,” just a day before U.S.-Iran negotiations are scheduled to take place in Geneva. He mentioned that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will meet with Iranian representatives on Thursday to evaluate whether a diplomatic agreement might be achievable, considering the extensive U.S. military presence in the region.
