In a stunning turn of events, CD Projekt unveiled a cinematic trailer for The Witcher IV at The Game Awards 2024. This latest addition to the beloved RPG series will showcase Ciri taking center stage as a monster hunter, although a release date has yet to be announced.
The cinematic opens with visuals that fans will recognize from the Witcher universe, featuring a cloaked witcher employing magical signs and polishing a silver sword. However, it soon becomes clear that this is an older Ciri, poised to interrupt a sacrificial ceremony. Despite its cinematic feel, the trailer includes elements that hint at gameplay features. Ciri faces a mutated beast using an array of potions, spells, and her sword, but she also wields a new chain weapon to dispatch her adversary.
After grappling with her failure to save a young girl, Ciri confronts the villagers who rationalize their actions as being “for the gods.” Ciri’s reply, “There are no gods here, only monsters,” echoes a memorable line from an earlier Witcher III trailer, showcasing the continuance of the narrative’s darker themes.

Additional details about The Witcher IV include its development as a single-player RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5. The development team aims to create “the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher experience to date,” following Ciri’s journey to true witcherhood and marking the beginning of a new saga.
CD Projekt has also disclosed several other projects within the Witcher realm, including a remake of the original title and another project codenamed Polaris, which we can now confirm as The Witcher IV. Currently, there is no set release date or timeframe for the game. While Geralt’s voice is heard in the trailer, it remains uncertain whether he will have a significant role in the game; however, his voice actor has hinted at a smaller appearance.
As of now, The Witcher IV does not have any designated platforms or launch window.
